LESLEY GARRETT

Lesley Garrett, CBE, is Britain’s most popular soprano, regularly appearing in both opera and in concert, on television and CD. She has won both critical acclaim and the affection of many fans and music lovers.

She has eleven solo CDs to her name and was awarded a CBE in the 2002 New Year’s Honours list for services to music. Lesley wowed the audience at Clifton College in 2006 and we are delighted to welcome her back this year.

Paul Austin Kelly's honey-toned, lyric tenor voice has earned international acclaim during his distinguished career as a star of the opera world, performing leading roles with the prestigious Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden and La Scala.

He is supporting Lesley at a number of concerts throughout 2008.

CONDUCTOR – PHILLIP ELLISPHILIP ELLIS - CONDUCTOR

Since winning first prize at the 3rd Leeds Conductors’ Competition in 1991, Philip Ellis has established a reputation as one of Great Britain’s most versatile conductors. He has worked with many of the major British orchestras.

Since 2001 he has been Music Director for Lesley Garrett, working with her on many of her tours, recordings and TV programmes for the BBC.

Emerald Ensemble is Bristol’s professional chamber orchestra, a lively and dynamic ensemble which was formed in 1994 by Roger Huckle.

It is the largest independent classical music organization based in the South West and has an extensive national concert and education programme. Over the past twelve years, the Emerald Ensemble has performed classical and contemporary music to audiences in large and small venues throughout the UK, giving approximately 80 concerts a year.

THE RAF BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT

For this spectacular event, the founding aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly together over the concert arena to commemorate the RAF’s major battle honour, The Battle of Britain, and the RAF’s involvement in all the campaigns of World War Two.
